Take it away, Arianna! :)

Hi there!

If you are a citrus lover, you are going to love what Young Living Lime Essential Oil can do for you! Lime is believed to be native of eastern Malaysia and was introduced to the West Indies by Columbus during his second voyage. Lime (Citrus latifolia or C. aurantifolia Swingle), comes from the Botanical family Rutaceae, and is extracted using cold compression from the rind of the fruit.

Either with diffusing the oil into the air, being topically applied, or taking it internally, there so so many benefits to incorporating Lime EO into daily life. Lime is best known throughout the world as a way to promote a healthy immune system! Aromatically, the pleasant scent of Lime is refreshing and may help promote mental clarity.*

Topically, Lime provides antioxidants to the skin and may help with skin conditions, and can act as an insect deterrent.* If you do use it on your skin, try to avoid direct sunlight or UV rays for up to 24 hours after applying to skin, as all citrus oils are photosensitive. Taken internally, Lime supports a healthy digestive system and may aid in weight management.*

Exfoliating-Lime-ScrubIf you’re looking an oil to help with mental alertness, weight management, and skin conditions, Lime is your oil!

young-living-lime-essential-oilOne of the best ways to use YL Lime essential oil, is to cook/bake with it. Want a smoothie with Lime? How about Mexican food with a touch of Lime? An Asian dish with Lime and soy sauce marinade? Yum! The best way to add some Lime oil to your food, is to take a toothpick with Lime oil on it, and swirl around into the food. You can always increase the Lime amount to your liking. There are SO many ways to use this Lime EO in your food, so start cookin!

Lime is such a fantastic oil, that I may just have to use it in a few more recipes throughout the month of January! I can’t wait! :) Today though, we’re all about the guac! I am completely in love with anything  avocado-related, and this guacamole is no exception. One of the fantastic things about guacamole, is that it’s so adaptable. I tweaked and played with flavors for this recipe until I got it to taste exactly right for my tastebuds, and I want you to do the same! Add more/less spices to reach your preferred taste. It’s awesome to dip tortilla chips in, or to spread on sandwiches or wraps (<-one of my very favorite meals!!), or to pile on top of your favorite Mexican dishes! (or if you’re like me, just the bowl and a spoon :) mmm)

The recipe below only serves 4, so make sure to double or triple the recipe depending on how many hungry eaters you’re serving, and then devour!

Rockin Lime Guacamole
Recipe type: Condiment
Lime Essential Oil is what gives this awesome guacamole recipe it's zap of irresistible flavor! The best Game Day appetizer, chip dip, and garnish for Mexican foods, sandwiches, and more!
  • 2 Avocados, peeled and pitted
  • ¼ cup Diced Red Onion
  • ¼ cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro
  • 2 large cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 drops Lime Essential Oil
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Chili Powder (or to taste)
  • dash cayenne pepper (to taste)
  1. In a medium bowl, mash avocados.
  2. Add all other ingredients, and mix well.
  3. Enjoy!
  4. Serves 4
You may use the juice from fresh, whole fruit limes instead of Lime Essential Oil, if you'd prefer. I'd suggest squeezing the juice from half a lime into the bowl along with all the other ingredients; then taste and add more juice if desired.

Lime Essential Oil is not quite as tart as the juice from whole fruit lime, so always adjust ingredients to your preferred tastes!
