Letter From Dad

Dear Kiddos,

To be honest I never thought I would be writing something like this… As a dad you have to know it is my hearts cry to provide for and protect you both and your mom. It is my heart to show you Jesus. To have you more than a 20 hour plane ride away kills me. The wait to complete the paper work and all of the legal processes just to bring you home, where you belong, is devastating. Most of this we cannot control, which is hard for me, because I can’t stand not being able to control everything. God is really using this process in my life to demand my trust in His sovereign will for you and our family.

I literally cannot wait to share life with you. We will have so much fun going to the park, playing ball, teaching you to ride a bike, watching movies as a family, playing with your cousins, and figuring out how God has gifted you. Your mom is the best cook; she will make you cookies and yummy dinners for us to eat as a family. You have a huge family both my side and mom’s side ready to welcome you into their loving arms.

It made us so sad to think that you could not enjoy this last Christmas with us. You probably don’t even know what Christmas is about, but don’t worry we’re gonna share all the fun of the Christmas season with you. It tore us apart knowing that you all did not have toys to play with or even enough food to eat. It kills me not to be able to provide this for you…

We pray daily for you. We pray that you would have enough food, that you would get a good nights sleep, be warm enough, be protected from anyone or anything that might try and hurt you, and most of all that someone would be sharing the love of Jesus with you. I just talked to some people who live very close to you, and they will come check on you and tell you that mommy and daddy love you so much and are coming for you soon! The promise that Jesus made to us as children of God is a promise that I will make to you, Lord willing, that I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will be your biggest cheerleader, your coach, your safe zone, your protector, and your daddy. I hope to be half the dad my dad was for me, and if that comes true then we will be just fine.

I cannot wait to share this story with you someday, when you are old enough to understand. I am in awe of how God continues to write the story of our family, and allowing you both to grow in the hearts of your mom and I. God continues to bring me to my knees in this process, and allows me the mountain top experience from time to time. Your mom and I have now been married for 5 years, and God has brought us down a road that has made us completely dependent on Him, as our provider, our healer, our protector, and our Savior. I can honestly say that I love your mom more today, than the day I married her. You are going to have the best mommy in the whole wide world!

We are coming for you! I hope 2015 is the year we finally get to be together as a family. You have been growing in our hearts for years. We have lots of catching up to do since you have been through so much I wish I could have protected you from. But God’s plan is so much bigger than I can even imagine. He will use you both and the story of our family to bring glory and honor to His Name, which is worth so much more than anything I could give you. Get ready for the best bed time stories, a warm bed to sleep in, full stomachs, fun times, and hopefully some time to heal from everything you have been through in the last couple of years. Your mom and I are here to stay and will always be here for you. You are our children, and we love you forever and ever!
