A simple and extra-flavorful homemade garlic and herb seasoning blend recipe, made in less than 5 minutes, with spices found in your own pantry!
Can you believe how fast this year is flying by??
And it is summer! I think most everyone is out of school, and we hit our hottest day this year so far — 108 degrees – on Sunday, so I guess summer has officially hit! I really can’t complain though, because summer has eased into Arizona so nicely this year, and those triple digits have held off a lot longer than they typically do, which has been so, so nice!!
And with summer here, it means grilling season is here too! Nate and I have been grilling meals a lot more lately; no need to heat up the kitchen any more than necessary, right? And have I got an amazing recipe for you today, a recipe that will bring your grilled foods up a few notches higher on the yummy scale!
This Garlic & Herb Seasoning is so easy to make (it takes me less than 5 minutes to whip up a batch!), and makes dinnertime prep so fast! Just grab your meats, fish, potatoes, veggies, whatever you want! Then coat them with a little oil, sprinkle with this flavorful, garlicky seasoning, and toss it on the grill! So simple, but so, so tasty!
And honestly, don’t limit this seasoning to just grilled stuff; it goes on my steamed veggies and baked fish all the time! It tastes so fabulous in mashed potatoes, or even stirred into tomato sauce! Sprinkle some of this seasoning generously onto some buttered French bread slices before you stick them under the broiler, and you’ve got the most heavenly-tasting garlic bread ever!!
Of all my homemade seasonings, this one is probably the one that I use the most often…it’s my everyday, go-to seasoning blend that just somehow seems to be the perfect topper or mix-in for just about any savory food I make!
I typically measure and pour all the spices into my food processor, and then pulse them together for about 30 seconds to end up with all the individual granules being a similar size, but that’s totally optional! It just gives the seasoning blend a universal texture, and prevents the bigger granules from settling down at the bottom of the spice shaker. (Ps-you can also run it through your coffee grinder instead, if you don’t have a small size food processor!)
Food doesn’t have to be boring…just a sprinkle of a tasty seasoning blend like this one can spark so much delicious flavor! Enjoy!
- ¼ cup Garlic Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Sea Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar (or Coconut Sugar)
- 1 Tablespoon Dried Parsley
- 1 teaspoon Citrus Pepper (or Lemon Pepper)
- Place all ingredients into a small food processor (or coffee grinder) and pulse for about 20-30 seconds. (Alternatively, you could simply whisk ingredients together in a small bowl.)
- Store seasoning in a tightly sealed container at room temperature for up to 1 year.
- Makes about ⅓ - ½ cup.
