Magic Cookie Bars
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 24
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick)
  • 1 and ½ cup graham cracker crumbs (about 9-10 sheets)
  • 1 can (14-ounce) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 and ⅓ cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk chocolate, dark chocolate)
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Place butter (the whole stick) in a 13x9-inch baking pan, and put the pan in the oven while it is warming up. This will melt the butter; once it is melted, remove pan from oven and set aside.
  3. While butter is melting, crush the graham crackers. To easily create crumbs, place a few graham crackers in a large ziplock bag, and squeeze out all the air while zipping the bag shut. Take a rolling pin, and roll it over the bag until everything is crushed, and only crumbs remain. Pour crumbs into a measuring glass or cup, and repeat until you have 1 and ½ cups of crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly over melted butter in pan. Drizzle Sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crumbs. Top with flaked coconut, chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips. Using your hands, lightly press the chips down a little bit, so that they “stick” to the top of the milk layer.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until lightly golden.
